AI Resume Match

Instantly see how well a candidate's resume aligns with your job requirements.

AI Resume Match analyzes each candidate's resume alongside the skills, requirements, and pre-qualifying questions from your job ad. It then evaluates how well the candidate aligns with those requirements and generates a score based on both their resume content and their answers to pre-qualifying questions. The result is a quick, consistent way to prioritize your strongest candidates before you ever open a profile.

Adding AI Resume Match to Your Candidate List

AI Resume Match is enabled on all IdealTraits accounts. You can choose to display the score as a column in your candidate list so you can compare scores across all applicants at a glance.

To add it as a column:

  • Open the Candidates tab

  • Click the column icon at the top right of the candidate list.

  • Select AI Resume Match from the available columns.

  • The score will now appear as a column for each candidate in the list.

Tip: Sorting by this column lets you quickly surface your highest-matching candidates without opening individual profiles.

Viewing the Score and Full Analysis

When you open a candidate's profile, the AI Resume Match percentage is displayed above their resume. This gives you an at-a-glance read on how well their background aligns with the role before diving into their resume.

Full Breakdown

Click “View Full Analysis” to open the AI Resume Match score breakdown. The breakdown shows exactly how the candidate performed across the key areas pulled from your job ad, including:

  • How their resume content maps to the required skills and experience.

  • How their answers to pre-qualifying questions factor into the overall score.

  • Which requirements were met, partially met, or not addressed.

This breakdown is especially useful when two candidates have similar scores but you want to understand where their strengths and gaps differ.

Using AI Resume Match to Filter Candidates

Filter in the Candidate List

You can filter your candidate list by AI Resume Match score to focus on the candidates most likely to be a strong fit. In the Candidates tab, open the filter options and select AI Resume Match Score. You can filter by:

  • Strong Match - candidates whose resumes closely align with the job requirements.

  • Moderate Match - candidates who meet some but not all requirements.

  • Low Match - candidates with limited alignment to the job.

  • Not Scored - candidates whose resumes have not yet been analyzed.

Add as a Filter in Automated Workflows

AI Resume Match Score is also available as a filter inside your Automated Workflows. This lets you route candidates automatically based on how well their resume aligns with the job. For example:

  • Send a video interview invitation only to Strong Match candidates.

  • Send a follow-up email to Moderate Match candidates asking for more information.

  • Archive or send a rejection email to Low Match candidates automatically.

Note: To use AI Resume Match as a workflow filter, set your trigger to "New Candidate Applies" or "Assessment is Completed," then add the AI Resume Match Score filter between the trigger and your action.

How to Enhance Your AI Resume Match Score with Keywords

The quality of the AI Resume Match score depends on what you put into your job ad. The more specific and keyword-rich your requirements and pre-qualifying questions are, the more accurately the AI can evaluate a candidate's resume against them.

When writing your job requirements, think about the specific words and phrases that would appear on a qualified candidate's resume. Here are examples by category:

Experience and Background

  • Years of experience: "3+ years of insurance sales experience," "5 years in a client-facing role"

  • Licensing: "active property and casualty license," "CPR certified," "Drivers License,” "forklift certified,"

Job-Specific Skills

  • Sales skills: "prospecting," "cold calling," "pipeline management," "cross-selling," "upselling," "account retention"

  • Service skills: "inbound calls," "customer retention," "claims handling," "policy renewals," "coverage reviews"

  • Office and admin: "data entry," "CRM experience," "Salesforce," "QuickBooks," "Microsoft Office," "Google Workspace,"

Soft Skills and Behaviors

  • "self-motivated," "goal-oriented," "high sense of urgency," "team player," "attention to detail"

  • "coachable," "driven," "competitive," "customer-focused," "results-oriented"

Education and Certifications
