What Is a Webhook and What Does It Do?
A webhook allows one application to automatically send real-time data to another when a specific event occurs. In IdealTraits, this means that when an event like a new candidate applying happens, the webhook can immediately deliver that data to your HRIS, payroll system, CRM, or other internal tools to assist you in streamlining your processes without any manual work.
What Is the Webhook Manager and What Can I Use It For?
The Webhook Manager in your IdealTraits account allows you to set up and manage these automatic connections. With the Webhook Manager, you can:
Automate hiring workflows by connecting with tools like Zapier, Make.com, or internal systems
Trigger actions when events occur (e.g., a candidate applies, completes an assessment, gets tagged, etc.)
Receive alerts if a webhook fails, and automatically retry up to five times
Maintain visibility into webhook activity with a full log of each attempt and response
This feature is especially powerful for companies that use multiple systems and want a seamless data flow between them.
Accessing the Webhook Manager and Adding a Webhook:
To access the Webhook Manager:
Login to your IdealTraits account
Navigate to the Marketplace
In the Marketplace menu, look for the Webhook Manager option.
Click to open. If you haven’t created any webhooks yet, you’ll see a prompt to “Add New.”
From there, you can:
Name your webhook
Choose the event trigger
Enter the destination URL
Run a test before saving to ensure everything works correctly
Assign error notifications
Note: The number of active webhooks you can use is based on your current plan. Your usage (e.g., “1/1 Webhooks Added”) will be displayed at the top of the Webhook Manager.
