Reposting the same job ad after it is active for a short amount of time (less than 14 days) can lead to lowered visibility as well as other job posting consequences. However, we realize that reposting a job ad is sometimes necessary. Before reposting, please read this article.

Indeed - Reposting Policy

This information is provided directly from Indeed's Reposting Policy.

Policy: Excessive, habitual job reposting may result in lowered visibility for your jobs.

We understand that job reposting is sometimes a necessary part of hiring — especially for hard-to-fill roles or roles with high turnover rates.

What is a Repost?

We consider a job to be a “repost” when an employer posts a job that recently existed (or still exists) on their account.

The Difference Between Reposted Jobs and Reopened Jobs

In addition to manually posting a copy of a recent or existing job, employers can repost jobs quickly and easily from their job list in the Employer Dashboard by using the “Repost” button.

Employers can also pause and reopen jobs from this screen. Reopening a job isn’t a form of reposting, but using the “Repost” button is.

Best Practices When Reposting Jobs

Employers can avoid excessive reposting by following these best practices:

  • Repost only the jobs that truly need it. Reposting should be reserved for situations where a role hasn’t been filled after a reasonable amount of time on the site.

  • Determine if the job isn’t attracting the right candidates. Effective job titles and descriptions help jobs appear in the relevant search results and attract qualified candidates.

  • Explore other solutions to the issue. Reposting a job may be a quick fix to an urgent hiring need, but it may not always be the best long-term solution. For example, a strategy targeting employee retention may be a better sustainable option for a job with high turnover.

How to Repost an 'Active' Ad in IdealTraits

To repost an 'Active' ad in IdealTraits, verify that it has been live on the job boards for at least 14 days, then follow the steps listed below:

  1. Refer to the "Jobs" tab in the top left corner of your screen

  2. Locate the 'active' job ad that you wish to repost

  3. From the drop-down menu in the 'Actions' column, click "duplicate".

  4. Do not skip this step -- 'Archive' the active job ad you just duplicated. Do so by using the drop-down menu in the 'Action' column and clicking "Archive". (This will remove the job ad from the feed and prevent you from violating any job posting policies)

  5. The duplicated version will appear in your jobs table with a 'Draft' status. Click on the title to enter into the job ad editor.

  6. From here, you can make edits to your job ad if you choose to do so.

  7. Once you are satisfied with your job ad, click "Post Ad"

New jobs are posted to Indeed every day, 10 jobs per second globally. If your job ad is posted organically and it isn't performing the way you expected, consider sponsoring. Sponsoring is the best, most effective way to keep your ad visible. According to Indeed, sponsored jobs are 3.5X more likely to result in a hire.
